Nature of request
Guy Arnold de Navailes, Lord of Sault-de-Navailles, makes two requests:1) He states that he has served the king's father and still serves the king, and wishes to continue to serve him; and he requests letters to the Constable of Bordeaux to account with him for his wages and to pay him what is due to him.2) He states that the bailli of Bonnegarde is wrongly harassing him, attempting to appropriate his barony of Sault-de-Navailles, which he has always held, to the king, and asks that he might be ordered to allow him to hold it quietly and in peace.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the first point: the Constable is to be ordered to account with him, and to pay him what is due for his wages as soon as he properly can.With regard to the second point: the king will send certain people to the Duchy who, on the advice of the Seneschal and Constable and others of the king's council there, will do what is to be done for this request.

From the hand and language, and the mention of the king's father, this petition would seem to date from the early years of the reign of Edward III. Check m.7 of C 61/43, dated 3 November 1331.
