- Guy Arnold de Seint Estefyn Juso states that he has served the king in the war in Gascony, and has lost everything he had, so that he has nothing on which to live. He asks that in compensation, he might be made a sworn servant of the kind called 'message' in the language of the country, of the land of the bailiwick and castellany of Mauleon.

Note (Additional information about the record)
- From the hand, language, and content, this petition would seem to date from the aftermath of the war of St Sardos, and probably from the early years of the reign of Edward III. It does not appear to be quite contemporary with other petitions from this period making similar requests (SC 8/281/14006, SC 8/281/14022, SC 8/281/14039, SC 8/282/14055, SC 8/282/14067 and SC 8/282/14073, for example) which receive negative answers; although two with similar endorsements are SC 8/285/14203 and SC 8/286/14256.
