Nature of request
Nichola, Abbess of Holy Trinity, Caen, asks the king of his special grace to allow her to appoint general attorneys in England and in the isles of Jersey and Guernsey, before the Abbot of Saint-Etienne in Caen for three year, and that these attorneys might be able to answer for her on the first day of the eyre, if there is an eyre within those three years.
Nature of endorsement
She is to go to Chancery and make fine to appoint an attorney for pleas in England and the Isles - but for the first appearance in eyres, coram rege (before the king).Afterwards, coram rege concerning the first appearance: the king does not wish it at present.
Note
The most likely results of this petition are CPR 1317-21 p.131, dated 8 April 1318, or CPR 1313-17 p.216, dated 7 February 1315, but the petition could be earlier or later: CPR 1307-13 p.48 is dated 1 March 1308, p.393 is dated 10 October 1311, and CPR 1321-4 p.13 is dated 8 August 1321.
