- The merchant vintners of Gascony state that if the view of their wines is reserved to the will of the Mayor of London beyond the specific occasions laid out in their charter, the merchants might leave London because of this grievance; as the intention behind it is to drive the Gascon merchants away, sealing their cellars for eight or fifteen days and in the meantime giving the free men of London advantages in selling their wines for a greater sum, to the harm of the common people.
