Description
Petitioners
Merchant vintners of Gascony.
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
Merchant vintners of Gascony
Nature of request
The merchant vintners of Gascony states that the king owed them £1550 sterling for wines taken from them by Stephen de Abyndon, the king's butler, for the king's use, and that he ordered that this money should be paid to them from the issues of the Duchy of Guyenne. Because of delays in their payment, and their great sufferings because of this, he granted them 300 marks to share between them, to be paid from the same issues; and they have letters patent for this. The payment was later changed to be from the issues of the Seneschalcy of Agen, by letters under the great seal, and the 300 marks were wrongly omitted from these letters. They ask that these 300 marks might be reinstated, and paid from the issues of Agen, and that they might have letters to expedite the payment, as they have only received 400 marks of all the money due to them.
Nature of endorsement
At the king's command they [fem. pl.: letters or marks?] have been withdrawn. Therefore nothing.
