Name(s)

Addressees
[King]
Nature of request
[Stained and hard to read] Arnold de Castednau states that he served during the war between the king and the King of France, and that the king owes him money for his wages. He asks that he might be paid, or that if the king does not wish to pay him at present, that he might have the bailiwick of Castillonnes, assigned to him in allowance for his wages until his debt is paid. He has already held the bailiwick this year, and asks that this rent might also be allowed against his debts. Or, if the king does not wish to do this, that he might have an allowance for his debts somewhere else.
Nature of endorsement
The constable is to be ordered that on this occasion, in the debt that the king owes him, he is to allow him as much as it amounts to in the issues of this last year. With regard to what remains, he is to endure it until he recompenses and ordains payment to the others in his condition: which will be at this parliament. With regard to the bailiwick, the seneschal is to be ordered to provide him with a bailiwick for as long as he sees that he will serve well and loyally, paying the king as much as another will give.
