Reference
SC 8/284/14171
Date
[1327-1332]
Description
Petitioners
Giraud (Geraut) de Poioles (Pujols), knight.
Name(s)
de Poioles (Pujols), Giraud (Geraut)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Giraud de Poioles states that he has lost lands worth £300 tournois annually in the king's service in the war in Gascony, and in compensation for this, Oliver de Ingham, when he was Seneschal of Gascony, gave him certain lands and rents in the power of Penne-d'Agenais and of Frespech. He requests letters patent, confirming that gift, so that he can maintain his estate.
Nature of endorsement
The kings of England and France have arranged a day at Paris at the octaves of Michaelmas next, concerning requests made on one side and the other; and among the requests of the King of England mention is made of his lands and of the lands of his subjects in those parts, where he certainly intends to have restitution. When he has it, they will be served in a suitable manner; and if by chance they do not meet with success in the matter of these lands, the king will inform himself both of their losses in lands and chattels and of their good service, and he will give them such a response that they will reasonably consider themselves to be satisfied.
