Nature of request
The merchants of Spain state that they have been used to come with their merchandise to Abbeville and complain that the Mayor and echevins of Abbeville are in various ways giving them inferior treatment and imposing unheard of conditions upon them, to their great harm. They ask the king to order the Mayor and echevins to remove these usages, and to treat them according to justice and reason, and they also ask him to take them into his safekeeping.
