Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of La Sauve Majeure state that they previously asked the king to confirm their privileges, and they ask that the execesses, damages and acts of violence committed against them contrary to these privileges, concerning both their market and jurisdiction in La Sauve Majeure and other things, by the king's officials, the people of La Sauve Majeure and the prevot and people of Creon, might be returned to their previous state; and that the king ordained the Seneschal of Gascony, the Constable of Bordeaux, William de Casis, doctor of laws and master Austencius Jordani, jurist, as negotiators to deal with this. They request letters patent to the Seneschal and Constable to force the parties to cease from these excesses and grievances during this business, to remove all impediments to the holding of their market in La Sauve Majeure on a Tuesday as they did before, and to move the new market at Creon to some day other than Tuesday.
Nature of endorsement
The Seneschal of Gascony is to be ordered to inquire into the contents of the petition, and to defend the aforesaid Abbot and convent from injuries and violence; and if he can establish that any things has been done against them, he is to return them to their due state, when they have received the negotiators under the hope of peace.Expedited.
