Description
Petitioners
Abbot and convent of Perignac.
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The abbot and convent of Perignac, in the Agenais, make three requests:1) They state that a pareage was lately made between the seneschal of the Agenais and the abbot concerning the construction of a bastide at a place called Penchavilla, which is now begun and called Sembas. And at the time when the pareage was made, the seneschal of the Agenais or the seneschal of Gascony made letters patent promising the consuls and inhabitants of the new bastide all the franchises and liberties granted to Villeneuve-sur-Lot or Monflanquin. They ask the king to order the seneschal of Gascony to grant these liberties as promised.2) They state that at the command of the seneschal of Gascony, William de Casis and Peter de Gualiciano assigned a resort to this bastide. They ask that the seneschal of Gascony might be ordered to confirm this, and to have it observed.3) They ask that the pareage between the seneschal and the abbot for the construction of the bastide might be confirmed.
Nature of endorsement
The first and third are to be done, saving the king's right and any other's.Concerning the second: when the king's council of those part has gathered, and taken information concerning the contents of the petition, it is to do and ordain what will seem expedient for the state (res publica), saving the king's right and any other's; and orders are to be given on this to the seneschal.
