Name(s)
de Orrau, Nicholas (Nicholau)

Nature of request
Nicholas de Orrau, executor of the testament of Pierre Arnaud de Vic, king's clerk, states that during his lifetime Pierre Arnaud ordered his goods to be placed in the house of the Friars Minor in Bayonne, and that after his death, John de Ferrers, then Seneschal of Gascony, because of the king's great need and to preserve the king's honour, took a certain sum from these goods, for which he has a letter, the transcript of which is sewn to this petition. And Pierre Arnaud is also owed money for his wages, for which Nicholas has another letter. He requests letter patent to the present constable, or to the person who will be constable for the time being, to pay Nicholas without delay.
Nature of endorsement
The present constable of Bordeaux, or he who will be constable for the time being, is to be ordered that, when he has seen the letters mentioned in the petition, and when he has received information on whether master Pierre Arnaud de Vic on the day of his death owed the king any money, as appears in the transcript, or not, and if it is found that he did not owe the king, then the executors of the testament of the aforesaid Pierre are to be given satisfaction for that debt, receiving etc. charging those etc.And the constable is to be ordered to account for his wages etc., if he has not yet accounted for what etc. he is to pay etc.

Gascon Rolls 1307-17 no. 906 is dated 27 April 6 Edward II (1313), and would seem to be in response to this petition. No.6 of C 47/24/3 is dated 27 August 1312, and John de Ferrers died in September or October of that year. See also the discussion of the petition in M. Vale, The Angevin Legacy and the Hundred Years War (Oxford, 1990), p. 172 (incorrectly numbered).
