Nature of request
The people of Labourd state that each house in their region, which borders Navarre and Spain, pays the king 3s. of Morlaas annually. They would like to pay 2 coins of Bordeaux for 1 of Morlaas, or to pay in the money which is current in Labourd or Bayonne, but the bailiffs of Labourd force them to pay in coin of greater value. They ask that, as they are poor and keep the march well for the king, they might pay in the coin they prefer.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to the seneschal and constable, for them to advise themselves on the things contained in the petition, and further to do what is just and reasonable, with favour, for the poor people.
