Reference
SC 8/282/14089
Date
[c. 1327]
Description
Petitioners
Armand (Armant) de Puch Agut, damoiseau (donzel).
Name(s)
de Puch Agut, Armand (Armant)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Armand de Puch Agut states that he has served the king and his father throughout the war in Gascony, and when the Earl of Kent was there, and is still prepared to serve. Because of this he has lost all his lands, to an annual value of £200 tournois, and has received no compensation, so that he has nothing from which to maintain his estate honourably. He asks that he might have some grant to the value of his lost land, or, if it please the king, the bailiwick of St-Emilion or some other thing. He requests compensation for the loss of his lands for five years, and also that the wages due to him might be paid without delay, and that those not accounted for might be accounted for and paid also.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the losses: he is to have £100 tournois from the issues of Gascony of the king's gift, and the king will be informed of his losses and will make him some remuneration.[Deleted] The king and the council have ordained for his estate.
Places mentioned
Gascony, [France]
St-Emilion, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
[Edward II], King of England
[Edmund of Woodstock], Earl of Kent
King of France.
Note
From the mention of the late king, and of the Earl of Kent, king's lieutenant in Gascony between July 1324 and January 1326, this petition would seem to date from the early years of the reign of Edward III.
