Reference
SC 8/282/14053
Date
[? c. 1331]
Description
Petitioners
Vidau, lord of Poudenx.
Name(s)
lord of Poudenx, Vidau
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Vidau, lord of Poudenx, requests a letter to the present Constable of Bordeaux, or to the person who will be Constable for the time being, ordering him to pay him the arrears of his wages due to him from the time of the late king, for which he has letters under the seal of Gascony and of the Constable of Bordeaux.
Nature of endorsement
The present Constable of Bordeaux etc. is to be ordered to account with him for his wages, and to pay him what is due to him.
Places mentioned
Poudenx, [Gascony, France].
People mentioned
[Edward II], King of England.
Note
There are instructions to give the petitioner payment or an allowance for wages due to him on m.7 of C 61/43, dated 28 October 5 Edward III (1331), issued in response to no.4968 of C 81/185, which is dated 28 October 1331, and also on m.22 of C 61/54, dated 1 June 16 Edward III (1342) - but the latter are for service in the time of the present king, and this date seems too late for a petition requesting payment of debts from the reign of Edward II, especially as the endorsement is identical to that of several petitions from the early years of Edward III.
