Description
Petitioners
Raymond Bernard (Ramon Bernat) de Marmande.
Name(s)
de Marmande, Raymond Bernard (Ramon Bernat)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Raymond Bernard de Marmande states that he has lost his land and seen his castles of Virazeil and Lusignan destroyed by the King of France's people because of his service to the King of England, and that he had no compensation until Oliver de Ingham gave him the lands that used to belong to Peter de la Mote of the Bazadais. But it has now been ordained that lands won by force of arms be returned to the King of France's people, and Oliver de Ingham has ordered him to return these lands, leaving him with no land on which to live. He asks that he might have land from which to support himself, or the prevote of Entre-Deux-Mers or the castellany of St Macaire or the bailiwick of Labourd, or some other thing from which he might derive profit.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have £100 tournois of the king's gift. And the king will inform himself about his losses.
