Nature of request
William Amaneu de Pomiers, brother of the lord of Pommiers, states that he has long served the king and his father at great cost, and that because of his service his has lost his father's house and does not dare to live in his country, unless he has some office from the king there, and that he and his companions are very poor. He asks that in consideration of his service he might have the keeping of the castle of St Macaire for term of life, with the appropriate wages; or, if that does not please the king, that he might have the bailiwick of Blaye for a certain term, as the holder's term is up at the feast of St John, and he paid a farm of £600 annually. And Oliver [de Ingham] will attest to the truth of what he says.
