Nature of request
The Abbot of St-Ferme makes two requests:1) He asks the king to order the Seneschal of Gascony to make the executors of the testament of John de Greyly do justice to the abbot in his complaints, on his own behalf and that of his church, according to the terms of the testament. And if they will not do so, that the seneschal might do justice in their default.2) He requests the king's letter of protection, for himself, his people, and the goods of his church.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the first petition: the Seneschal is to be ordered that, calling the parties, he is to do justice.With regard to the protection: the protection is to be granted to him if he is willing to recognise that he is, and that he ought of old to be, under the protection and the keeping of our lord the king.

Roles Gascons, vol. III, no.4829 is dated 30 March 33 Edward I (1305), and no.4787 is dated 12 April 1305. AHG, vol. XIII, no.124 tentatively dates this petition to 1290, and also wrongly transcribes 'pere' for 'fere', suggesting that John de Grailly was the Abbot's father.
