Reference
SC 8/281/14019
Date
[? c. 1327-? 1332]
Description
Petitioners
John (Johan) de Mallioun (Mauleon), alias John (Johan) Moneter.
Name(s)
de Mallioun (Mauleon); Moneter, John (Johan); John (Johan)
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
[Gascony, France].
Nature of request
John de Mallioun, alias John Moneter, asks the king to order the present Constable of Bordeaux, or the person who will be Constable for the time being, to pay him what is due to him for his wages, for himself and his companions.
Nature of endorsement
The present Constable of Bordeaux, or he who will be Constable for the time being, is to be ordered to account with him for his wages, and to pay him what is due to him.Done.
Note
The order to pay the petitioner on m. 5 of C 61/44 is dated 10 September 6 Edward III (1332) - but as it seems to be in response to a follow-up petition, because the constable has ignored a previous order, and as it suggests an allowance in the petitioner's bailiwick of the Marensin (Marencino) instead of payment, it seems likely to be the response to a later petition - probably to SC 8/63/3127. This petition would seem likely to date to the reign of Edward III but before 1332. There is a Liberate Roll reference on the guard (m. 7 of C 62/106) which does not seem relevant.
