SC 8/281/14015
Date
[? 1329]
Description
Petitioners
Galhard (Gaillard) de Chastel Pugon (Castelpugon), lord of Projan.
Name(s)
de Chastel Pugon (Castelpugon), lord of Projan, Galhard (Gaillard)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Galhard de Chastel Pugon, lord of Projan, states that he has served from the beginning of the war to the present, and that the French have taken his castle from him because he did not wish to follow the Count of Armagnac, from whom he held it, and asks that the Constable of Bordeaux might be ordered to pay him the wages due to him and compensation for the horses he has lost in the king's service, so that he might be able to serve him further.
Nature of endorsement
The present Constable of Bordeaux etc. is to be ordered to account with him for his wages and for compensation for horses, and to pay him what is due to him.Done.
Places mentioned
Projan, [Gascony, France]
France.
People mentioned
[John (Joan) I], Count of Armagnac.
Note
Tentatively dated on the guard to c. 1304 with reference to Roles Gascons, vol. III no.4603, an order to order to give Galhard de Chastel Pugon an allowance for his debts to the king in the king's debts to him dated 30 October 32 Edward I (1304), but the similarity of the endorsement to those of numerous other petitions from the early years of the reign of Edward III (like SC 8/281/14007, for example) would make this a more likely date, and there are instructions to pay the petitioner his wages on m.4 of C 61/41, dated 18 August 1329. The petitioner may be the same Galhard de Chastel Pugon mentioned in Roles Gascons, vol. III no.4603, or possibly his son.
