King.
Nature of request
Menaud de Bardous states that he has loyally served the king and his father in their wars in Gascony, and has lost all his inheritances and possessions in Puyguilhem during the siege by the King of France, when he was in garrison of the castle there. At the same time he took the bailiwick of St Emilion at farm from the Constable of Bordeaux, but could not govern it because of the war, and lost heavily. He owes the Constable £100 tournois for this bailiwick, which the Constable demands from him, and asks that he might be pardoned this sum in compensation for his losses, and that the Constable might be ordered to pay him the wages due to him.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the pardon of the £100, the king will be advised concerning the good service of the one who requests this. And with regard to his wages, the present Constable of Bordeaux etc. is to be ordered to account with them for their wages and to pay them what is owed to them.[Done] with regard to the wages.

Gascony, [France]
France
Puyguilhem, [Guyenne, France]

People mentioned

King of France.
Note
The petitioner would appear to be the same Menaut de Bardos who is one of the petitioners in SC 8/281/14008. There was a siege of Puyguilhem in 1339, so the petition would seem to date to after this time.
