Norris to Dartmouth on October 24: the queen of Spain has demanded that the bullion captured by Lord Forbes be delivered up to the justice of the laws of Spain. He has ordered Forbes to wait on the queen and then proceed to the army, obtain the views of the king and Stanhope and convey these to Dartmouth to learn the queen's [Anne] decision [3 copies]. Dated on board Ranelagh at Port Mahon.
Norris to Dartmouth on October 25: following the queen of Spain's demand that the Genoan ships with their bullion be surrendered to Spanish justice, he has sent Lord Forbes to visit the queen, the king and Stanhope and then report to Dartmouth. A Captain O'Brien has killed a Major Sims, and as the articles of war do not permit of a trial, Norris has given him leave to resign his commission and surrender himself to the justice of the island [2 copies].
