Resolution of a council of war held on board Ranelagh at Port Mahon: there being intelligence of about 16 French frigates cruising within and without the straits [of Gibraltar], it is resolved that as soon as the ships can be readied they will sail west in search of them, leaving three ships to cruise the Italian coast.
