Description

Consul Robert Cole to Dartmouth on 23 September 1710: congratulates him on his appointment. Overthrow and murder of the dey. The new dey, Ali Effendi has confirmed the articles of peace [with Queen Anne]. British passes [for ships]are disregarded by the Algerians. Dated at Algier.

Consul Robert Coles to Dartmouth on 11 October 1710: his demands to the dey regarding the Spaniards and [the ship] Satia and the dey's reasons for refusing them. He encloses a copy of his instructions from William III [below]. Dated at Algier.

Instructions dated 12 May 1701 to Consul Robert Cole on passes for ships. Dated at Hampton Court.
