Description

This series holds the papers of Master John Charles Fox (1891-1921) and also includes documents of Master Henry Douglas Hughes-Onslow (1908-1929) and Master Joseph Henry Pollock Chitty (1910-1935). The series does include material generated by their predecessors.

The predecessors of Master John Charles Fox (1891-1921) in his role as a Master/Chief Clerk were Master Edward Shearme (1875-1890), Master John Arthur Buckley (1863-1874) and, for causes with initial letters O-Z, Master Charles Pugh (1852-1862).

The predecessors of Master Henry Douglas Hughes-Onslow (1908-1929) in his role as a Master/Chief Clerk were Master Edmund William Walker (1874-1907), Master Henry Pritchard (1869-1872) and, for causes with initial letters G-K, Master Frederick Erasmus Edwards (1852-1869); and for causes with initial letters L-N, Master John Arthur Buckley (1863-1874) and Master Charles Pugh (1852-1862) .

The predecessors of Master Joseph Henry Pollock Chitty (1910-1935) in his role as a Master/Chief Clerk were Master Spencer Whitehead (1897-1909), Master Henry Baldwin Raven (1896), Master Alfred Rawlinson (1870-1895) and, for causes with initial letters A-F, Master Frederick Erasmus Edwards (1852-1869).

Because these documents had been scheduled for destruction, material was not made generally available until 1994. In a few cases, drafts relate to actions falling outside the chambers main concern, possibly because they were handled exceptionally or were dealt with specially during the vacation.
