Folios 228A-229. Letter from George Reid, magistrate, Hammersmith, Middlesex, stating that he has issued a warrant for the arrest of William Jennings of Chiswick and intends at least to require sureties for his good behaviour, and seeking instructions from the Home Secretary. Enclosed is a statement sworn before Reid by George Middleton of Chiswick, waterman, alleging that Jennings had uttered treason in saying 'Damn the man that finds you in cloaths', a reference to the annual provision of waterman's livery by the king.
