Folios 218A-220. Memorandum to Evan Nepean, Under-Secretary, Home Office, from Mr Jackson of the Excise Office, passing on information obtained by Mr Groves, an inspector in the Excise service. Enclosed is a statement concerning papers presumed to belong to Mr Martin, secretary to one of the corresponding societies, committed to the Tower of London some 6 weeks earlier. No papers had been found at Martin's house at Elliott's Row, St George's Fields, despite 3 searches by the Home Secretary's officers. A woman had since entrusted a bundle to a neighbour for delivery to Mrs Martin on her return to the house. The neighbour had looked into the bundle, believed it to contain the papers in question, and had given information that they could now be found at Mrs Martin's house.
