Acknowledges receipt of despatch of 5 January with letter from General Sir H Maitland recommending erection of a lighthouse on the windward coast. Encloses extract of minutes of proceedings of the Assembly in 1827 and 1828 approving the same, and recommends offer of Mr Cunliffe to erect one for £1000 and to maintain it for £500 per annum, and to meet the cost by a tonnage duty on vessels.
