- Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 6.10.1517 The Sheriff replied to a previous writ that on the day of the recognisance John Gerard had had in his possession for divers years a tenement or brew-house with a wharf, garden, and waters belonging to it in the parish of St Olave in the borough of Southwark, rented by John Stragge for a term of ....... for £4 a year. and two annual payments .....There follows a detailed list, in English, of the furniture, domestic goods and brewing utensils, including an old chair, trestle table, a little settle, a cupboard without a back, a roller for a towel, kitchen equipment, including spits, a frying pan, a dripping pan, an old gridiron, a roll of iron to hang pots on, a cupboard with a lock, an old chest, a round table, a bench and bedstead, a chest, a form, 3 stools, 15 pieces of hanging, otherwise called painted cloths for chambers, a great chest of wainscot without a lock, a smaller chest, two other old cupboards.... cords, a foot-stool of boards, a ship chest of planks, a great brewing furness of copper...a great mash-vat with a double bottom, a great Wort Tonne and great .... of leads .... two great cooling vats.... 20 yeast tubs, a cleansing float... a horse-mill complete.... 'and fyne giftes to ley over beer' the whole worth £25 5s. 5d. [duplicate of No. 261/20]
