Description

Debtor: Margaret Chaworth, widow, formerly the wife of John Chaworth, esquire, who lived formerly in Kirklington, in Notts.

Creditor: Richard Clapham, gentleman, and William Hulot, citizen and butcher of London [both since deceased]

Amount: £200

Before whom: Ralph Verney, Mayor of the Staple of Westminster.

Writ to: Sheriff of Hants

Sent by: Chancery

Endorsement: John Paulet, the younger, Sheriff, replies that Richard Clapham died before the writ reached him, and afterwards William Hulot died intestate. Thomas Osmond was appointed as his administrator.

Note
Inquisition and return: Date to be returned to Chancery: 1/06/1492. The Sheriff had replied to a previous writ that Margaret Chaworth at the time of the recognisance was seized in demesne of 21 messuages, 100 acres of land, 30 acres of meadow, and 600 acres of pasture in the vill of Kingsworthy, worth £17 a year. She is now dead.
