Debtor: Robert Shepherd, of Finchley in Middx [Ossulstone Hundred], a valet of the Crown.

Creditor: Brian Tuck {Tuke}, of Pyrgo {Portgore} in Essex [Havering-atte-Bower, Becontree Hundred], esquire.

Amount: 200m.

Before whom: James Yarford, Mayor of the Staple of Westminster.

Sent by: Chancery.

Endorsement: John Wilkinson and Nicholas Partidge, Sheriffs, reply that Robert Shepherd was not found in the bailiwick.

Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 20/01/1520 [over an erasure]. Attached is the inquisition made at St John Street in Middx on 05/12/1519 before John Wilkinson and Nicholas Partridge, Sheriffs, and John Gardener, Under-Sheriff. Robert Shepherd on the day of the recognisance, and afterwards, was seised in demesne of a messuage with a garden and croft in Ballard Lane in the Parish of Finchley, worth 27s. 8d.; of a messuage and five crofts of land next to it in Ballard Lane, worth 33s. ½d.; of a field lying in Netherstrete in Finchley, called Holcroft, worth 33s. 4d.; and of a messuage and two crofts of land in The East End {le Eastend} of Finchley, worth 24s. 8d. He also had a certain farm in Finchley, called Bybwell, which was leased from Richard, Bishop of London, for a certain term of years, worth 20m.
