- Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 22/04/1509. Attached is: (a) A writ, dated 12/05/1509, asking for information about the execution of the earlier writ. (b) The inquisition made at Chelmsford on Fri., 30/03/1509, before Humphrey Torell, Sheriff. At the time of the recognisance John Brown was seised in demesne of the manor, called Fiddlers, in Writtle in Essex, worth £13 a year. He had no goods or chattels in the county.
