Description

Debtor: Alice Thorpe, formerly of Thorpe in Surrey [Godley Hundred], gentlewoman.

Creditor: Thomas Beleter, citizen and mercer, of London.

Amount: £100.

Before whom: Geoffrey Fielding, Mayor of the Staple of Westminster.

When taken: 23/12/1461

First term: 18/04/1462

Writ to: Sheriff of Berks

Sent by: Chancery.

Endorsement: John Howard, knight, Sheriff, replies that Alice Thorpe was not found in the bailiwick. The execution of the rest of the writ appears in the inquisition.

Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 03/11/1468. Attached is the inquisition made at New Windsor in Berks. on 29/10/1468 before John Howard, Sheriff. Alice was seized at the time of the recognisance of the Manor of Shawe, 60 acres of land, 25 acres of meadow, and 200 acres of pasture, and a rent of 20s. in New Windsor, worth in all 20m. after expenses.
