Debtor: Thomas Bettenham, of the Parish of Pluckley in Kent [Calehill Hundred], gentleman.

Creditor: Henry Eburton, citizen and draper, of London.

Amount: £60.

Before whom: Geoffrey Fielding, Mayor of the Staple of Westminster.

When taken: 21/07/1457

Writ to: Sheriff of Kent

Sent by: Chancery.

Endorsement: William Haute, knight, Sheriff, replies that Thomas Bettenham was not found in the bailiwick. He has seized his manors, lands, and tenements into the King's hands.

Inquisition and return: Date to be returned: 20/04/1466. Attached is the inquisition made at Ashford {Asshettyfford} [Chart & Longbridge Hundred] on 15/03/1466 before William Haute, knight, Sheriff of Kent. Thomas Bettenham had on the day of the recognisance, and afterwards, the Manor of Sherlond, and 80 acres of land in Pluckley and Little Chart, worth £7 6s. 8d. a year; he had a horse, 2 mares, 8 oxen, and 6 pigs, worth 60s.
