Creditor: Richard Filby and Adam Popilton, formerly citizens and mercers of London, now deceased, and Robert Dane, citizen and mercer of London.

Endorsement: Reply of William Bateman, Sheriff: John Busshey is dead. He has seized into the King's hands the messuage, land and rent contained in the inquisition.

Inquisition and return: Date given for return to Chancery: 25.11.1398 M.2: Writ to the Sheriff of Herts, dated 13.12.1398 about the same debt. The Sheriff had sent a previous writ to William Ash, bailiff of the liberty of the Abbot of St Albans, who made no reply. The sheriff had then executed the writ and replied that John was dead but he had on the day of the recognisance and afterwards a messuage in the town of Watford [liberty of St Albans] a messuage in the hamlet of Little Bushey [Dacorum Hundred] called Bussheresplace, 260 acres in the same place and 8 acres of meadow and pasture, 6 acres of woodland and rents of 13s. from divers tenements, worth altogether 40s. 9½d a year. Endorsed: Reply of Robert Turk, Sheriff: he has delivered all the property to Robert Dane. M.3: Inquisition made at Watford before William Bateman, Sheriff of Herts., on Sat. 31.8.1398. The jury say that John Busshey held in demesne on the day of the recognisance and afterwards a messuage in the vill of Watford worth 4s. after expenses and another messuage in the hamlet of Little Bushey called Bussheresplace [and the rest of the property listed above].
