Debtor: Katherine Dengayne, formerly the wife of Thomas, Lord Dengayne [of White Notley, Witham Hundred, Essex]

Endorsement: William Bateman, Sheriff, replies that Katherine Dengayne was not found in the bailiwick. The manor in the inquisition has been seized into the King's hands.

Inquisition and return: Date given for return to Chancery: 9.2.1399. M.2.: Inquisition made at Chelmsford before William Bateman, Sheriff of Essex, on Thu. 16.1.1399. The jury say that Katherine had on the day of the recognisance for the term of her life the manor of White Notley in Essex which is worth after expenses 35m., and the manor of Colne Engaine [Lexden Hundred] which is worth after expenses £10. M.3: Writ about the same debt, dated 8.7.1398 addressed to the Sheriff of Northants. John Mulsho, Sheriff, replied that Katherine Dengayne was not found in his bailiwick. M.4.: Extent made before John Mulsho, Sheriff, at Rothwell on Fri. 4.10.1398. The jury said that she had no goods or chattels in the county but she held in demesne the manor of Blatherwycke and its appurtenances in Laxton and Bulwick [Corby Hundred], and the advowson of the church of Holy Trinity in Blatherwycke in Northants., which are worth, after expenses, £41 12s. 8d. Endorsed: Memo. that on 8.6.1399 the manor and advowson were handed over to Robert.
