Nature of request
Draft writ of Edward II to the bailiffs of England, ordering them to arrest the goods of Scotes or any other merchant of Poperinge entering their bailiwick, as Scotes recently bought two sacks of wool from Combes but then failed to make payment. This is followed by a memorandum that Combes has sought the assistance of the king, requesting that he have letters patent to the bailiffs so that he may have satisfaction of this debt, as he has had no recompense through earlier letters close since the goods are in the hands of other merchants.
