[This petition is badly damaged, and only a small section is now legible. The petitioners complain of great costs, seemingly due to attacks on their town.]
Nature of endorsement
Coram Rege.It pleases the king that the taxation be pardoned at this time in order that the are able to sustain the safety of the town.
Note
Dated tentatively to the period c. 1320-c. 1350 based on the handwriting and the reference to destruction, probably by the Scots. Most of the petition is illegible.
