Copy of a writ of Edward II to Roger Mortimer, Justice of North Wales, dated at Westminster on 4 June 1317, relating to inquiries into compensation due to David Gethyn for property in Trefvawr Vachan taken from him during the construction of the town and castle of Beaumaris.

People mentioned
Roger de Mortuo Mari (Mortimer) of Chirk, Justice of North Wales
David (Dafydd) Gethyn
David (Dafydd) Vaghan, father of David Gethyn
John de Grey, former Justice of North Wales.
Note
The original writ was issued on 4 June in the king's tenth year, and the reference to John de Grey (Justiciar of North Wales, February 1315 to November 1316) and the address to his successor Mortimer (Justiciar of North Wales until October 1317, when he became Justiciar of the whole of Wales), dates it to 4 June 1317. However, it is clearly the transcript attached to the petition at SC 8/337/15928, and hence was presumably written some time after that date.
