[Part of this document is missing, but the sense can be understood with reference to other sources.]William de Cateby requests that he be restored to three bovates of land in Fockerby, from which he had been wrongly ousted by virtue of a grant made by the king to del Isle, under the mistaken assumption that they were part of the king's demesne.
Nature of endorsement
View the process in chancery, and if it is found that the lands given to Richard for the term of his life by the king are the same lands arrented to John de Crakhale, then they should be restored to William to hold in the same form as before, saving to the king and others, and the charter made to Richard should be cancelled. And afterwards Richard came before the council and showed that the lands granted to him of the lands arrented to John [...].
