Nature of request
[Petition in two parts:]1) Chestrefeld, who is charged with the office of estreats of the Common Bench, requests a writ to the treasurer for him to be paid his fee which is in arrears for four years, which fee was granted by certain covenants to his lord de Bereford for the clerk of this office when he took the office of the Bench because the treasurer will not pay without a writ. He and the others under him have served in this office well as Bereford can attest, and they will not be able to endure because of their troubles.2) He similarly requests a writ to the treasurer to pay his expenses as he has travelled through 7 counties to assure the amercement of the Common Bench.
