Commonalty of the wapentake of Bassetlaw in Nottinghamshire.

Nature of request
The commonalty request remedy and that the under bailiffs and their 4 men be ousted and the chief bailiff and one bailiff under him is able to serve the king in the wapentake as has been before these hours. They had the bailiff and a beadle until the last coming of the bailiff when he brought these additional under bailiffs to make attachments at the cost of the commonalty, and they could not have peace until they paid various sums of money.

Hugh de Nottingham is assigned to enquire of the truth of this and certify the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer so that they can do remedy.
