SC 8/323/E594
Date
[c. 1306]
Description
Petitioners
Henry de Percy, lord of Pocklington; Robert de Creppingg (Crepping), lord of Pocklington.
Name(s)
de Percy, lord of Pocklington; de Creppingg (Crepping), lord of Pocklington, Henry; Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Percy and Creppingg request that the king will take advice so that they are not aggrieved more than other people as the good people of England granted to the king the thirtieth penny of their goods, and the taxers of Yorkshire demanded the twentieth because the vill was at one time ancient demesne.
Nature of endorsement
The form of the grant is to be examined to see if the twentieth should be granted both from the demesnes of others and from those of the lord king.
Places mentioned
Pocklington, [East Riding of Yorkshire]
Yorkshire.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1306 as the thirtieth is presumably that granted in 1306 to knight the king's eldest son.
