[Petition in two parts:]1) The prior requests that the king maintain the estate of the Church as he holds nothing in Leicestershire of lay fee, but of the church so that neither he or his tenants are geldable nor subject to other demands, however, the sheriff has levied 100s. from the tenants of the prior against the estate of his church to the great damage of the prior.2) The prior requests remedy as he was impleaded by Enoroys of a debt before the justice of the Bench and the sheriff of Leicester has made false returns of the names of pledges of the tenants of the fee of Holy Church and afterwards mainprised them though the prior holds nothing of lay fee and amerced the prior, and made other false returns so that he and his tenants are much aggrieved.
