Nature of request
[Petition in five parts:]1) Duyn requests that the manor of Nefyn can remain with him for the estate of the office as it has before, rendering 40s. beyond the farm, as it has usually been assigned for the fee of the chamberlain of Caernarfon, but lately at the last parliament was granted to Howel.2) Duyn states that he is charged of victualling the castles of Conway, Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Criccieth and Harlech to sustain them, but the constables will not allow him to remove victuals that are going rotten until he brings new victuals. But new wheat, wine and meat is not available yet. He requests a writ patent to the constables to allow him to remove the victuals to sell them for the king's profit, or that the constables receive the same victuals to answer to the king for them, or that they take a certain sum of money ordained by the king's council to victual and sustain his castle at his own peril.3) [This entry has suffered damage:] Complaint concerning estreats sent to him by Mortimer from the last parliament at Lincoln, to lvey the debts contained in them, including a large sum against the bishop of [...]. The people complained to John de Grey, currently justice, about this oppression, saying that Mortimer's command was no warrant to levy these debts. He has now been amerced in 40 marks in the estreats, and the execution has been put in respite, until the will of the council is known.4) He requests a writ to the sheriff of Staffordshire to raise the money owed to the king by Trumwyne from his lands and chattels as he has been ordered to raise all the debts of the king in North Wales and Trumwyne has nothing in those parts. He further requests that Chedworth render his account at the Exchequer so that he is batter able to know what the debtors in those parts owe the king.5) He states that the king has great loss by the length of time that Thomas de Esthall has not rendered his account, Duyn not being able to levy arrears from certain lands.
