Commonalty of the town of Dover.

Nature of request
The commonalty request the king's aid and that he will join with them for his free chapel of St Martin as the archbishop has summoned certain persons of the town to his visitation though the archbishop has no jurisdiction there because of the liberties of the free chapel, and has excommunicated many of them and placed the town under an interdict.[The petition gives a considerable amount of detail about the removal of the free chapel from the castle for matters of security, for the replacement of the secular canons with regular, and for the provision of religious service in the parish church].
