Reference
SC 8/322/E531
Date
[c. 1306]
Description
Petitioners
Priors and nuns of the order of Sempringham.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The priors and nuns request grace and remedy as they were granted by charter of the king that they be taxed at the tenth, but the tax assessor have come and assessed them at the thirtieth penny.
Nature of endorsement
The thirtieth was what was given to the king so he does not wish to do anything concerning this petition.
Places mentioned
Sempringham, [Lincolnshire].
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1306 as it seems likely that the petition was in response to the thirtieth granted to knight the king's eldest son.
