Nature of request
Metham requests that her sustenance be put in more certain terms having regard to the quantity of land of her inheritance and her great charge of children. She had her sustenance of 400 marks of land of her inheritance and by joint purchase with her late husband which are seized into the king's hand because of the felony of Stiveton who killed Marrays in the king's presence, and the king ordered the chancellor and treasurer to put her sustenance in more certain terms but nothing has been done.

The petition dates to c. 1316 as it seems likely to date closely to an inquisition taken into the lands of the petitioner's late husband that give more details for the reason of the taking of the lands into the king's hand (CIM 1307-49, no.265).
