Maud de Mortemer (Mortimer), widow of Hugh de Mortimer.
Name(s)
de Mortemer (Mortimer), Maud
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Mortemer states that she holds certain lands that were her husband's by jointure and requests that she can pay the debt demanded from her that her husband owed at the day of his death in instalments, and that the tenants of her late husband's other lands be aided and that they be charged reasonable portions according to what she is able to show that they ought to be charged.
Nature of endorsement
The king wishes that nothing be done.
People mentioned
Hugh de Mortemer (Mortimer).
Note
The petition dates to c. 1304 as the petitioner's husband died in July 1304 and as the petition concerns her rights to land held jointly with her late husband, the petition is unlikely to date too far beyond 1304 (Complete Peerage, vol. IX, pp. 264-5).
