Nature of request
The executors request that the debt owed by Sutton be assigned to them in compensation of the sum owed to Freston by the king expended to the profit and defence of his realm, this being in accordance with what the king ordained and commanded at his parliament of Lincoln.
Nature of endorsement
By virtue of the answer made by the king and council in parliament at Lincoln in the morrow of Hilary in the 29th year to the petition of the abbess and convent of Canonsleigh, with regard both to the money of the abbess and convent and to the money of all others present and absent in the parliament, taken to the use of the king by scrutiny made in the 22nd year of the king, which petition is delivered to the Exchequer to be executed according to the response to the same, because Master Alan was not bound to the king in debt, nor held farms or rents of the king in the Exchequer on the day of his death, the treasurer and barons at the said request of the executors and with the assent of William de Sutton, present in the court, have assigned £757 2s. from the debts which Sutton owes the king at the Exchequer to the executors to be received from Sutton in compensation for the £757 2s. contained in the petition, as is contained among the memoranda for Easter term in the 29th year.
