Mortemer requests remedy and that consultation be granted where a prohibition is brought concerning the mortuary of her late husband, as her husband died and was buried in Ireland and his charger and armour remained at the church for mortuary but now the parson of Kingstone and the vicar of Frome demand mortuary though her late husband only had an interest in their parishes by the dower of his wife, and in wardship and she is impleaded before the official of the bishop of Hereford on the same..

The petition is dated to c. 1318 as the escheator was ordered to take the lands of the petitioner's late husband into his hand 25 October 1317, and he was ordered to deliver the same to the son and heir on 30 January 1318 (CFR 1307-19, pp.343, 351-2). The petition must be nearly contemporary with these.
